BURHANUDDIN - GERMANY

BURHANUDDIN LIFE HISTORY

In any gathering,
in any chance meetingon the street,
there is a shine,an elegancerising up.
Today, I recognizedthat the jewel-like beautyis the Presence:
our loving confusion,
the glow in which watery claygets brighter than fire,
the onewe call the Friend.
I begged,“Is there a way into you, a ladder?”
“Your head is the ladder, bring it downunder your feet”.
The mind,this globe of awareness,
is a starry universethat when you push off with your foot,
a thousand new roads become clear as you yourself do at dawn
sailingthrough the light.
Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi

Burhanuddin received the direct transmission of the Sufi Naqshbandi order, one of the most authoritative and ancient one among the forty traditional existing Sufi orders. Known through the ages under different names, like the School of the Masters of Wisdom, or the Path of Love, it is called nowadays Naqshbandi. It derives its name from the great Sufi saint, active in Central Asia, in the area of Bukhara in Uzbekistan, Shah Baha’uddin Naqshbandi (1317-1389), may God sanctify his secret. He was the seventeenth in the direct uninterrupted line of descent originated from the heart of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, through Sayyisdina Abu Bakr the acknowledged heir of his mystic teachings, instead of sayyidina Ali, may God be pleased with them, as it is the case for all the other Sufi orders.
Naqshbandi etymologically is composed by the terms “impression, print” (naqsh) and “to bind, to fasten” (band), referring to the divine Name that is imprinted in the heart of the disciple. It may happen through one glance of the Sheikh, the master, and through the practise that will keep alive that connection.
Burhanuddin used to travel in the East to deepened his studies and to receive the teachings of the Way. He started walking on the Sufi path when he was very young. At the age of nineteen, after seeing one of his picture, he decided to invite to his town his future teacher, Grand Master Maulana Sheikh Nazim al Haqqani, the present world guide of the Naqshbandi Sufi order and the fortieth in the direct descent line. When he saw him the first time, he was so overwhelmed by his majesty and power, that he simply fainted in the middle of the street. From that day on he was at his side, accompanying him in his frequent travelling all over the world spreading the Sufi touch of grace and love. In the Sufi tradition when the master sees that the disciple is ready, he puts him through the hardest test: a period of forty days seclusion. Burhanuddin received his first retreat when he was thirty-five years old. Under the guidance of the master, the disciple is locked into a tiny cell, and follows an extremely hard practise program in a constant praising state of the Divine, with no pause for forty days, and forty nights. The food is almost in-existing and very little sleep. This is how through the constant practice it is possible to sharpen your intention to reach God, facing and fighting the manifold aspects of your ego.
I have a secret Lover around meand from time to timehe sends mea sacred smell.I asked himin my heart:why do you do that? And he said:this is the only waysto kiss your heart directly.
Burhanuddin Herrmann

You need to become a pen
In the Sun´s hand.
We need for the earth to sing Through our poresand eyes.
The body will again become restless
Until your soul paint sall its beauty Upon the sky.
Hafiz
